About Me

Never settle for the easy solution. Challenges will always produce a better product and form a better designer.

I’ve always had a hunger to learn more. Stagnation promotes comfortability, which will ultimately lead to the death of creativity. Not only does comfortability limit you as a designer, but will also inhibit you from adapting to the ever-evolving world of technology and design.

I’m a lover of any good challenge. A degree in Graphic Design wasn’t enough for me – I had to know more. I dove in, head first, to learn how websites work, teaching myself HTML, CSS, and eventually WordPress. Still hungry for more, I’m currently in the beginner stages of learning PHP and Javascript. I do believe that ‘knowledge is power’ and I live to surround myself with others that constantly challenge me and push me to want to know more.

With this being an “about me” section, here’s a few random things about me: I was born and raised in Florida. I have two amazing boys that make me whole. I have a love/hate relationship with running. Music is a big part of my life. I’m pretty decent in the kitchen and behind the grill. If you love cats, we probably won’t get along. I like cold hoppy beer, so let’s get together and throw one back sometime.

Spins and Grins

2008 to present day

Owner and Designer

Spins and Grins is my freelance company that focuses on primarily the wedding industry. Although a majority of my clients are involved in the wedding industry, I have clients in other industries, such as law firms and the medical field. My niche in wedding industry design came about after seeing how much my wife dreaded sitting in front of a computer for hours laying out her images for an album, creating marketing material, trying to build her website, and trying to brand her new business….all while working full time as a photographer. Spins and Grins offers custom branding, websites, marketing material, and wedding album designs for photographers.

Pineapple Willy’s, Inc.

from 2007 to present day

Marketing, Advertising & Graphic Design

For Pineapple Willy's, Inc, I have had the opportunity to serve as the Assistant Director of Marketing and Advertising. This role has included, but not been limited to, creating all creative marketing for advertising (print ads, billboards, signs, menus, promotional products, t-shirts and posters), creating and maintaining social media accounts, maintaining websites, and creating new marketing campaigns for the business. In 2012, the company opened a new custom concept restaurant called "The Wicked Wheel Bar and Grill". I had the privilege to conceptualize and create all visual branding for this concept - logos, signs, menus, promotional products, website, and all POS collateral. For The Wicked Wheel, I have also maintained all marketing and advertising materials and campaigns, as well as all social media accounts.

Education experience

2005-2007

Florida State University

2005-2007

Bachelor's of Criminology

Young and naive to where my passion was, I started to pursue my childhood dream of law enforcement. Obtaining a Bachelor's degree in Criminology with a minor in Underwater Crime Scene Investigations was a great accomplishment that felt good for a fleeting moment. Even though I learned a lot of new things and acquired some great skills, there was always something in me that was empty, that I didn't realize at the time was my passion for design.

2007-2009

The Art Institute of Pittsburgh

2007-2009

Associates of Graphic Design

After graduating from Florida State University with a Bachelor's Degree in Criminology, I soon realized that that field is not where my passion and heart was. I longed for a more creative outlet, and that's when I enrolled into the online classes of The Art Institute of Pittsburgh. I originally enrolled to pursue another Bachelor's degree, but after seeing how natural design was to me, I opted to only graduate with an Associates degree. I knew that with my ability to self teach in the areas of design, practice, and determination, it was not cost effective for me to remain in school for 2 additional years. I have thrived over the years with researching, experimenting, and digging deep to learn new skills such as web design, HTML, CSS, the world of Wordpress, and have even recently started studying PHP and Javascript to expand to more programming. I have a desire and passion to learn more and to gain new skills in the design world.
